Wire Wastebasket, c. 1900

Made in 1/12th scale by Wm. R. Robertson, 1993-2020

These wastebaskets were started when I made the Architect's Classroom, circa 1900 now in the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures in the early 1990s. As a pandemic project I finished them this summer. They are made of tinned wire soldered together with 1,020 solder joints. The bottoms are cut from sheet tin. Unlike most of the miniatures I make, these were made to look old and used, as opposed to shinny new. The finish is somewhat aged and wires are a little bent in places just like the full scale antique I use in my office. They are signed on the bottom with my name stamp.
